Perth
I had to go to Perth, Australia for work for 2 weeks. Kelly came down for week two, and vacationed in eastern Australia for a third week.

At the airport in Sydney (part of the 34 hours of flying) I already saw a difference...Burger King is called Hungry Jacks!

I had a nice balcony off of the hotel room where I'd be staying for two weeks.

It was very enjoyable leaving the middle of winter in Pittsburgh (with 3 feet of snow on the ground) and ending up where it's summer.

Perth was about the size of Pittsburgh, and almost all of the business are for the mining or oil industry.

I worked in one of those buildings, which had a crazy smart elevator (no buttons!). You typed in what floor you were going in a computer, and it told you which elevator to go to.

During the weekend, I walked to King's Park. And saw old trees like this.

The park is somewhat above the city, so there were lots of views.

Another view looking back towards the city.

So you see this trail is super well paved and manicured, which seems great...but it was eerie, I didn't run into a single other human on the trail, and this was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Isolated, but somewhat scary.
