Puntarenas, Costa Rica

We took a very early bus out of Monteverde. We met another American at the bus stop who took this picture.

This bus ride was by far the scariest part of our trip. It was an old school bus driving on tiny, unpaved mountain roads. This is a shot out the window...see like 5 inches of space between us and a huge cliff.

But people are totally crazy, so of course a truck trys to pass us in that small space.

And somehow does...

It was an old school bus for travelers, but it also picked up real school children. A bus stop is ANYWHERE in Costa Rica. If the bus drives by and you want on, it will pick you up. Bus stops and times are not written anywhere, i think its just a 6th sense. There is also no limit to people they will cram on these buses. Our bus to La Fortuna was jammed packed, with the aisle completely full, and the guy kept making stops.

The coastal town of Puntarenas. It was evidently the second hotest day of the year here today...it was over 90.
