Madison, Wisconsin

What was I doing in Madison? I had a recruiting trip for work. Recruiting the bright young wippersnappers at University of Wisconsin for the Census Bureau. Only 6 applied.

It was kind of grey when I took these pictures, but it was actually pretty warm, and after the golf ball sized hail and tornado touch down, it turned out to be a pretty nice day.

Madison is like Boulder in that it is a liberal, pedestrian/bike friendly college town.

I've heard one of its nicknames is the Berkeley of the midwest. This picture here kind of shows that (A Birkenstock next to a Fair Trade Coffee house).

College towns like Madison always make me realize what a crappy college town College Park is. They have streets and streets of college kid friendly stores, and tons of bars. This is the state capital, but all you saw were kids walking everywhere. College Park has uh...one block with a Chipotle and two bars.

The capital was literally a block or two from the campus.
