Shendendoah National Park, VA

Who needs an SUV when you've got a 93HP Honda Civic to climb these mountains.

Home Sweet Temporary Home

Most of the best stuff in the park required a hike, so we set out into the woods for some hiking. Along the way, we ran into these deer. The deer are so friendly we probably could have petted them since they got so close.

Doh! A Deer! A Female Deer.

This was one of the small waterfalls along the way to the BIG WATERFALL.

Oh yeah...before we set out on our hike, we got this DETAILED hiking trail map from the park rangers, it looked like this. Once again it amazes me just how much my $10 gets me when entering the park, given the detail of this map I can't figure out how we got lost! Hey but our 2.5 mile detour took us to the Appalachian trail, so we saw that too!

One of the trails was named after Kelly's family!

Our 8 mile hike was definitly worth the trip however, at the end of the trail we saw this beautiful view of the valley.

And of course the best part and the reason we made the hike...the tallest waterfall in the park, at over 90 feet. It was stunning and looked like something from an inspirational calender. I recommend this park to anyone willing to drive, we hope to see the southern portion of the Skyline Dr and the rest of the Blue Ridge Parkway some other time.
