The Mystery Castle was built by a man who moved from Seattle. He was dying of tuburculosus and he ran away from his wife and daughter to Arizona. He remembered fondly building sandcastles with his daughter on the beach, and so he built her this castle in the desert. He died of cancer before she ever saw it.

She has lived in the house since 1945 and personally gives the guided tours. The house is made from all sorts of recycled junk, and is a neat place.
