Day 2

Depart at 8 am Myrtle Beach, SC: Sunny, Clear, 34 degrees

We woke up this morning just in time to see the sun rise over the ocean from our bedroom window, it looked pretty cool so we took many pictures, see them here

We then took the old coastal highway, Route 19 down the South Carolina coast and through Charleston, SC, which frankly was a dump. There wasn't a whole lot to see on this highway, so we headed to Route 95 again. In South Carolina, we saw lots of Palmettos, those little palm trees you see on their license plates, but every single one was planted, i expected to see at least one grown naturally somewhere, but alas there was no Palmetto forrest.

Back on 95, we were soon in Georgia and on the way to our first stop in Savannah. Savannah was a quaint historic town with lots more to see then we had time for. See more pictures of Savannah here.

We had a long drive still ahead of us for our destination at Panama City, FL so we did not stop long in Florida. The temperature by the time we reached Florida was a comfortable 63 degrees. One cool thing on our way is that we crossed into the Central Time Zone, so we gained an hour that we didn't expect. We arrived in Panama City at 8:30 local time and got yet another great deal on a room right on the beach at the Gulf of Mexico. Our room isnt quite as nice as last time, but has a kitchen, deck, and only cost us $40.

One last cool picture from Myrtle Beach. Pictures of Panama City coming tommorow as we head to New Orleans!
